cross buns bring smiles to Birstall Shoppers
Volunteers from churches in nearby Gildersome
won many friends among shoppers at Birstall Shopping
Park when they joined forces on Good Friday to
hand out hot cross buns.
The churches, Baptist, Greenside Methodist and St Peters, were keen to spread
the Easter message on the busy and popular Park, and the tasty buns proved very
effective. Over 1000 shoppers enjoyed an unexpected but very pleasurable extension
to their breakfast.
“We will make this an annual event,” said organiser Marge
Oldfield, adding: “We enjoyed bringing so many smiles to the
faces of so many people at this special time of the year.”
